“I don’t want a chase. No games…I want to be adored. Cherished. I want someone I can trust. I want a chance at love, even if it has to grow from friendship or from duty first.”
I like to think of myself as an intellectual person, who appreciates deep world-building, creative plotlines, and moral quandaries that make you think. But let’s be honest, sometimes you just want to get lost in a feel-good book with predictable plots that take your emotions on a rollercoaster to that beautiful happily-ever-after ending that every royal romance deserves. Royally Rearranged by Emma St. Clair was such a delightful read that I finished it practically in one sitting…I literally read until my Kindle battery died.
Enter Serafina, the crown princess of a tiny fictional country faced with the dilemma of having to choose a groom before she can assume her throne.
Enter Cal, the charismatic prince of the neighboring kingdom she’s been betrothed to her entire life…or at least that’s what she thought. Oh, and he’s also been her best friend for basically forever.
Enter Rafe, the dubious small-time nobel with an overbearing, slightly nefarious uncle, and a checkered past. (And he’s totally my secret favorite!)
These characters have chemistry all over the place, and they play their slightly stereotypical roles with feeling and realism. I loved in particular the development of Rafe’s backstory! And there’s so much humor involved; I’m always a huge fan of a comedic narrator, which is done incredibly well in this book.
I haven’t read a lot of romantic comedy books, although I do adore watching rom com movies with my husband. But, this book definitely has me interested in reading more! Five out of five stars from me, and I would most certainly recommend it for any lovers of clean romantic comedy out there.
